Today is Friday, April 4th, 2008; Karen's Korner #1285

A couple of favorite poems from Colleen Hackley. Some of us may recognize them from a funeral brochure or two. Colleen may attend more than her share of funerals/visitations, as she is employed by a local care center. The people from whom she cares are more than part of Colleen's job; they become her friends.

God saw he was getting tired
and a cure was not to be,
So He put His arms around him
and whispered, "Come to Me".

With tearful eyes we watched him suffer
and slowly fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
we could not make him stay.

His life was not an easy journey,
with many stops along the way
To give himself to those in need,
so they could make it through the day.

He played many roles throughout his life,
husband, grandfather, and friend.
There is such an empty place in our lives
as we see such an important life end.

A golden heart has stopped beating,
hard working hands are at rest.
But our sorrow is softened in knowing,
trusting in Christ Jesus, he is blessed.

I'M FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard His call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not say another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Taks left undone must stay that way,
I found that place at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things too, I will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunrise of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
Don't lengthen it now to undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
