Once again we are saddened by the loss of life of law enforcement people. Two Des Moines police officers were killed in an accident where another car was going the wrong way on the interstate near Des Moines.

And too often we hear of officers in other states whose lives are taken foolishly for no reason

Below is a policeman's prayer, taken from "In God We Still Trust" written by Dr. Richard G. Lee (it is written as male gender; it wouldn't be difficult to change it to female as well. One of the Des Moines officers killed was a woman). If you have someone you know or in your life and you'd like to share it, go for it:

A Policeman's Prayer

When I start my tour of duty, God,

Wherever crime may be,

As I walk the darkened streets alone,

Let me be close to Thee.

Please give me understanding

With both young and old.

Let me listen with attention

Until their story's told.

Let me never make a judgment

In a rash or callous way,

But let me hold my patience.......

Let each man have his say.

Lord, if some dark and dreary night,

I must give my life,

Lord, with your everlasting love

protect my children and my wife.
