ACCEPT YOUR ACCEPTANCE “'He pre-destined us to be adopted by Himself as sons through Jesus Christ—such being His gracious will and pleasure' (Ephesians 1:5). God moved you into his family. He changed your name, your address, he gave you a seat at the dining table.

* Bible Commentary: This great truth can be hard to grasp. Do we think it is easier for God to love us when we are good? Do we secretly suspect God chose us because we deserved to be chosen? Do we think some people's behavior is so bad that God couldn't possibly save them? If we ever think that way, we don't entirely understand the Good News that salvation is a free gift. It cannot be earned, in whole or in part, it can only be accepted with thankfulness and praise."

Bible Commentary: "This is not only the shortest chapter of the Bible, but the middle chapter, Have we ever said, 'I can't think of anything God has done for me. How can I praise Him?' This psalm gives two reasons for praising God. 'He loves us very much' and 'His truth endures' if He did nothing else for us our whole lives, He would still be worthy of our highest praise."

Today's writing is by Stephanie Sample in her "365 Days of Prayer for Women". She talks about 'perfection'. Are you like me that you struggle with perfection tendencies? I sometimes get frustrated by something that I do 'wrong? God doesn't expect our perfection. He wants our Love, Belief, and Trust in Him.

Did you notice the number? 5000 Karen's Korners? Wow!
I started them in March 2003. There were about eight thoughts that I had around the time that Merry was sick and ultimately was killed. I was afraid I would forget so I wanted to write them down.
While I love sharing with others, it really keeps me focused on God and His Will every day. So thanks for allowing me into your computers each weekday!
And ironically, today is Jim's birthday! He would have been 84!

Today is Wednesday, March 12th, 2003; Karen's Korner #8
Jeffie And Grandpa
Jeffie was in his playpen and he was crying. Tears were rolling down his little cheeks, his face was red as it could be. He was crying, and he looked pitiful in his little baseball T-shirt and a diaper.
Then Jeffie's Grandpa entered the room; Jeffie's little face lit up when he saw his Grandpa! He immediately reached out his little arms in supplication and said "Out Pa Pa out."
What is a Grandpa to do? How can someone resist that?
So Grandpa went over to the playpen, he bent over. He reached down to lift his little buddy from captivity and distress . . .
Just then "Law and Order" walked into the room. Momma said "Jeffie, you stay right there! I'm punishing you because you have been naughty! Dad, leave Jeffie alone!"
What is a Grandpa to do?
Grandpa backs off and is thinking, "I can't just pick up a book and read it with Jeffie here. He would think I was uncaring and distant. I can't leave the room because he would feel like I have abandoned him."
What is a Grandpa to do?
But you know what? Love always finds a way. Since Grandpa couldn't take Jeffie out of the playpen, Grandpa climbed in with Jeffie!
Grandpa said "If you are in the playpen buddy, I'm in the playpen too. What are you in for? What is your sentence?"
Having Grandpa join him in his "prison cell" brought Jeffie great comfort and joy. In the midst of his captivity, Jeffie no longer felt so alone.
What Jeffie's Grandpa did is also a picture of what Jesus Christ did for us when He came to Earth as a baby.
God the Father yearned to reach down into our "playpen of captivity" and pull us out. He could not . . . because of our disobedience . . . because of our sin. What did God do?
God climbed into our "playpen" with us!
When Jesus Christ entered into our "playpen of captivity," He took the sin and disobedience that should have been ours alone, releasing us from our captivity . . . allowing us the opportunity to experience the fullness of life God has for us!
The message is simple, clear and personal: God with us . . . He loves you so much He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ!

High waves began to break into the boat until it was nearly full of water and about to sink. Jesus was asleep at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. Frantically they wakened Him, shouting, 'Teacher, don't you even care that we are all about to drown?'
"Then he rebuked the wind and said to the sea, 'Quiet down!' And the wind fell, and there was a great calm!
"And He asked them, 'Why were you so fearful? Don't you even yet have confidence in me?'"

* Bible Commentary: "The disciples panicked because the storm threatened to destroy them all, and Jesus seemed unaware and unconcerned. There was a physical storm, but storms come in other forms too. We need to think about the storms in our lives---the situations that cause us great anxiety. Whatever our difficulties, we have two options: we can worry and assume that Jesus no longer cares, or we can resist fear, putting our trust in Him. When we feel like panicking, we should confess our need for God and then trust Him to care for us."

For one thing, your enemy may never pay up. And as much as you think you deserve an apology, your debtor may not agree. The racist may never repent; the chauvinist may never change. As justified as you are in your quest for vengeance, you may never get a penny’s worth of justice. And if you do, will it be enough?

Today is Monday, November 27th, 2023; Karen's Korner #5006

Many
years ago, when my daughter was young, we went to see a counselor who helped
people with parenting issues. Our daughter was a very head-strong kid,
even from the age of two and it seemed to get stronger every year as she grew.
The
counselor asked my husband and I what we thought the job of parents was.
I answered to love them. My husband agreed, but added he though to
discipline them so they grew up with responsibility and respect. The
counselor told us - - all good answers. But think about this one.
Your job as parents to is to teach your kids resiliency and independence.
Life is full of disappointments, and in order to cope and grow, kids need to be
taught how to bounce back, taking failures as learning opportunities. And
independence because at some point, they will need to take responsibility for
themselves. We hadn’t thought much about either of these prior to the
visit.
A
few years later, my daughter as a sixth grader, was caught shop-lifting at a
local amusement park with a bunch of girls. Her punishment from the park
was a ban for a year, a big thing at that age. The ride home was pretty
quiet, except when I heard a small voice ask me if we had to tell dad.
Yes, I said, we do. Then the crying started. He will be mad, she
said. When we got home, we just sat in silence until he arrived.
The major crying started now. He told her to come and sit by him, which
she did. He asked her what she had learned from this. She said she
had learned not to steal and not to give in to peer pressure. Her story
was the other girls had stolen stuff several minutes before and were pressuring
her to steal too. My husband just looked at me and told her, ok, you are
banned from the park for a year and you are grounded for two weeks. That
was the end of the discussion. A sullen sixth grader headed off to her
room.

Wehn we dwell on our problems, we will become anxious and angry. But if we concentrate on God ahd His goodness, we will find peace. Where do we focus our attention?:"
** Father in Heaven, we know what You tell us, but we can't do it on our own. We need Your help! Help us to not be anxious or angry! Thank You so much for Your continued help in every area of our lives. In Jesus name. Amen.

Bible Commentary: "Jesus was probably one or two years old when the astrologers found Him By this time, Mary and Joseph were married, living in a house and intending to stay in Bethlehem for awhile.
"The astrologers gave these expensive gifts because they were worthy presents for a Future King. Bible students have seen in the gifts symbols of Christ's identity and what He would accomplish. Gold was a gift for a king; frankincense, a gift for deity; myrrh, a spice for a mortal man who was going to die. These gifts may have provided the financial resources for the family's trip to Egypt and back.
"The astrologers brought gifts and worshiped Jesus for who He was. This is the essence of true worship---honoring Christ for who He is and being willing to give Him what is valuable to you. We are to worship God because He is the perfect, just and almighty Creator of the universe, worthy of the best we have to give."
