Happy May Day!
Last week we had our monthly Marys and Marthas (M & Ms) meeting; it's an ecumenical group of gals who enjoy helping with needs and congratulating successes. Cards, notes, balloon bouquets, gift certificates are common.
We did some of our regular things at our April meeting, but we were more limited because we had 'less than normal' amounts of money. We had a balance in our checkbook because we recently had a fundraiser for aquatic center passes which we will give to a number of people in our community. The dollars are restricted to that use.
So the M & Ms did what many of us are having to do in our personal lives; we decided to use our limited resources and still turn them into blessings to others!
A number of months ago someone purchased a couple of boxes of full-sized M & Ms candies for something on which we were working; so did another someone. The extra treats have been sitting on the shelf in my store room.
Miriam Jensen stapled a ribbon handle and one of M & Ms 'business cards on each one. Today is the day that fifty some people will receive this simple outreach of blessing, a handful distributed by each of the M & Ms who attended our meeting.
Not a 'more valuable' gift certificate, but a blessing just the same! We used the resources which we had on hand, right under our noses!!
