I Corinthians 1:30,31 (LB) - "For it is from God alone that you have life through Christ Jesus. He showed us God's plan of salvation; he was the one who made us acceptable to God; he made us pure and holy and gave himself to purchase our salvation. As it says in the Scriptures, 'If anyone is going to boast, let him boast only of what the Lord has done.'"

Bible Commentary - "The writer Paul continues to emphasize that the way to receive salvation is so ordinary and simple that any person who wants to can understand it. Skill does not get you into God's Kingdom--simple faith does. God planned it this way so no one could boast that his achievements helped him secure eternal life. Salvation is totally from God through Jesus' death, which allowed us to become perfect in God's eyes. There is nothing we can do to become acceptable to God; we need only accept what Jesus has already done for us. He has done the work; we acknowledge the work; we acknowledge His position as God.
