Today is Tuesday, March 13th, 2012; Karen's Korner #2272

We sometimes read in the Bible about people who worshipped 'idols':  things made out of wood or stone. We ask ourselves, "Do we worship such things?" Maybe nothing like that comes to mind. Here is an 'idol check' listed in my Life Application Bible:

Isaiah tells us,
"What fools they are who manufacture idols for their gods.
Their hopes remain unanswered" (Isaiah 44:9)

We think of idols as statues of wood or stone,
but in reality an idol is anything natural
that is given sacred value and power.

If your answer to any of the following questions
is anything to any of the following questions
is anything or anyone other than God,
you may need to check out who or what you are
ultimately worshiping.

* Who created me?
* Whom do I ultimately trust?
* Whom do I look to for ultimate truth?
* Who do I look to for security and happiness?
* Who is in charge of my future?
