"Pray all the time.
Ask God for anything...."
~ Ephesians 6:18

I have heard many stories over the years about my Grandma Merwin (mom's mother), but I don't recall hearing this one:

Because Grandma had fifteen children and because of the time in which they lived, she had six sons/sons-in-law all serving in World War II at the same time. One of them was my dad. And they weren't in safe spots either; most of them were on the front lines in Europe.

Think about it! Can you imagine what that would have been like? Most of us would have a hard time wrapping our minds around a single loved one in the military and in harms way.

So what did Grandma do?

She and a number of her friends would gather every day to pray for 'their soldiers' and ones of other friends and neighbors. According to my oldest sister, they had a 'long list of names'.

And the outcome?

Every name on the list came home safely. Not only were they not killed, none of them were injured either!

Does prayer change things?

I'll let you decide.

(A reminder one more time:  tomorrow - Thursday, May 2 is National Day of Prayer, as we pray for our nation and its leaders!)
