Today is Tuesday, December 16th, 2014; Karen's Korner #2967

A week ago our Sunday School class spent our hour together taking a closer look at Mary, Jesus mother. Here is just a portion of what we read:

Mary

The Mother of Jesus.

The one human being who was with Jesus from birth to death.

Willing to be available to God.

Luke 1:26 - 29 NIV:  "In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

"Mary was greatly troubled of his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be."

*

Commentary:  "Mary was young, poor, female---all characteristics that to the people of her day, would make her seem unusable to God for any major task. But God chose Mary for one of the most important acts of obedience he has ever demanded of anyone. You may feel that your situation in life makes you an unlikely candidate for God's service. Don't limit God's choices. He can us you if you trust him."
