"As Jesus stood in the Temple, he was watching the rich tossing their gifts into the collection box. Then a widow came by and dropped in tow small copper coins.

"'Really,' He remarked, 'this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them combined. For they have given a little of what they didn't need, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.'"

~ Luke 21:1-3 LAB

Bible Commentary:  "The widow gave all she had, in stark contrast to the way most of us handle our money. When we consider giving a certain percentage of our income a great accomplishment, we resemble 'the rest of them' who gave only a little of what they didn't need. Here, Jesus is admiring sacrificial giving. As believers, we should increase our giving--whether of money, time, or talents---to a point beyond that which is convenient or safe."
