Wow! The Las Vegas shootings and disaster is controlling our thoughts and minds.

In light of what happened, what should we do? Maybe give some money to some organization to aid their families; maybe pray for them. Where does that leave us and how we live our lives in the future?

Walk with me back to the summer of 2001. Jim and I were considering traveling to China as part of one of our bank's trips in early November. My youngest sister Eileen decided to travel with us. So we made our travel deposits.

Then came '9/11'. The tour company wrote all of us telling us that we didn't have to go, if we didn't want to; if we believed that we would not be safe. "Your final payment is due," the letter stated, "we will even refund your deposit if you choose not to travel."

"What should we do?" I asked Jim.

I asked the same question to Eileen in a phone call.

"What do you mean?" was her response to me. "Do you think all those people went to the trade towers that morning, afraid they might be hurt or die? If terrorists want to find you, they'll find you. I already sent me money in."

I hung up the phone and sent the money in for Jim and me to travel, too.

Lots we didn't know about our futures in November 2001. We flew in a plane that was about 2/3 full. We were fine and had a great time.

Lots of things we don't know for our futures today either. Maybe we should not be running scared, afraid of what 'might' happen. Maybe we need to continue enjoying our lives, realizing that 'bad people can do bad things', but be reminded of what God says:

.

"Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed.

I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you;

I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."

~ Isaiah 41:10 LAB
