A large mid-section of the United States experienced a winter snowstorm the past few days. It caused a number of people to be 'shut in' for several days, including me.
Rarely do I miss church but I wasn't plowed out until mid-afternoon yesterday. When I got out, I ran! Had some things I needed to drop off at church, among other things. There was quite a 'pile' of church bulletins sitting on the back table. Obviously, a number of people were like me.
One of the items in yesterday's bulletin was a request by one of the missions we support, asking for our prayers. So since church members didn't get the information, Karen's Korner readers will today!
Mike Cahill is commercial pilot by trade but does 'mission trips' when he is in various parts of the world. His mission is giving out gospel tracts while he is 'on his own time'.
Today begins a Mexico Mission Trip for 3 days (January 20 - 22) with his friend Tim Berends. They will be in Aguascalientes, a city of about one million, hoping to give out between three and four thousand tracts while on the streets during their brief time in Mexico.
"We like to reach people one-on-one," Cahill said. "The tracts are printed in their language. We go to city squares where there are lots of people.. Buses are a main source of transportation which gives us even more opportunities.."
While Cahill has visited 23 different countries with the gospel tract ministry, he returns to Mexico the most often because the people there are the most receptive. "Most often people will stop to read them right on the spot."
Why does he do this? "God promises His Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11)", Cahill said.
And who doesn't want to see more people in heaven! So Cahill and Berends 'job' is giving out the good news of the gospel. Our job? is to pray: for them and their safety and for the readers of the printed materials; and their response to what they have been given. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers the next couple of days!
