Today is Monday, July 26th, 2021; Karen's Korner #4496
The theme for Psalm 42: "A thirst for God. When you feel lonely or depressed, meditate on God's kindness and love."
"Take courage, my soul!
Do you remember those times (but how could you ever forget them!) when you led a great procession to the Temple on festival days, singing with joy, praising the Lord?
Why then be downcast?
Why be discouraged and sad?
Hope in God!
I shall yet praise Him again.
Yes, I shall again praise Him for His help."
~ Psalm 42:4 & 5 LAB

Bible Commentary: "Depression is one of the most common emotional ailments. One antidote for depression is to meditate on the record of God's goodness to His people. This will take our minds off the present situation and give hope that it will improve. It focuses our thoughts on God's ability to help us, rather than our inability to help ourselves. When we feel depressed, we need to take advantage of this psalm's anti-depressant. We need to read the Bible's accounts of God's goodness and meditate on them."
