Today is Friday, July 8th, 2022; Karen's Korner #4700
Another milestone; one that ends in '00' - #4700! Thanks for allowing me 'invade' your computers most weekdays!
Here are three verses from Proverbs. Lots of wisdom and tips for living throughout its 31 chapters.
"The godly pray for those
who long to kill them."
(verse 29:10 LAB)
Bible Commentary: "Proverbs is full of short characterizations that, put together, give us a picture of what it means to be a godly - God-like - person. This one parallels Jesus' counsel to pray for our enemies. Few acts are harder to do, that is why godliness is rare. Measured by his standard, are we like God?"
*
"Don't refuse to accept criticism;
get all the help you can."
(verse 23:12 LAB)
Bible Commentary: "The world is full of people who think they know everything. They don't want to be instructed, and they think it show weakness to learn from others. They are wrong. Listening to others is a sign of wisdom, not weakness. Refusing to learn from others can be a great mistake. It can cause a person who could have been successful to fall flat on his/her face."
*
"The rich man thinks of his wealth
as an impregnable defense,
a high wall of safety.
What a dreamer!"
(verse 18:11 LAB)
Bible Commentary: Money cannot provide safety---there are too many ways for it to lose its power. The government may cease to back it; thieves may steal it; inflation may rob it of all value. But God never loses His power. He is always dependable. Where do we place our hope for safety---on uncertain wealth or on God who is always faithful."
