Today is Thursday, March 10th, 2005; Karen's Korner #499

Several days ago Jamie and I were talking on the phone about life and how temporary things are:  relationships, friends, jobs, members of our family or church family, the amount of money we have, our abilities, our health. We try to make this life permanent, but it has a way of not staying that way.

When we were in Melbourne, Australia, a sandwich board on the sidewalk of a street cafe simply stated:

"Life is 10% what happens to you; and 90% how you react to it."

Most of us have heard that saying before, but it is so true!

Yesterday I saw country singer Naomi Judd on an afternoon talk show. Naomi has experience many changes in her life. Like all of us, some of them she probably liked. Others she would have changed if she could.

She used the acronym C.H.A.N.G.E:

"Choose Having A New Growth Experience"

This is especially true when we have something coming our way that we would just as soon not have to endure.

Life happens to us, but we have to "choose" to allow each experience to help us grow in a new direction.
