Today is Wednesday, June 5th, 2024; Karen's Korner #5138

We have a weekly ecumenical gals' Bible study on Wednesday mornings. Usually we have several verses for which we are to read or study a bit before the group meets.

Not today. It is one verse. So I thought I would share it with you.

"It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago He planned that we should spend these lives in helping others."

~ Ephesians 2:10 LAB

Bible Commentary: "We become Christians through God's unmerited gift to us (grace) not as the result of any effort, ability, intelligent choice, or act of service to others on our part. However, out of gratitude for this free gift, we will seek to help and serve others with kindness, charity, and goodness, and not merely please ourselves. While no action or 'work' we do can help us obtain salvation, God's intention is that our salvation will result in works of service.. We are not saved merely for our own benefit but for His--to glorify Him and build up the church."
