Today is Thursday, March 31st, 2005; Karen's Korner #514

As one of our church's mission projects, we give monies to support an area Christian radio station. The dollar total is such that we sponsor two - half days of broadcast in honor of two members of our church family on their birthdays.

Good Friday was Leah Platt's 14th birthday. Her name was drawn as one of those two names. So several times on KJYL radio, the broadcasters honored Leah on her day.

One time the announcer talked about liviing true to our faith and what we believe and quoted these three Bible verses:

Psalms 37:4 - 6: "Be delighted with the Lord. Then He will give you all your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him to help you do it and He will. Your innocence will be clear to everyone. He will vindicate you with the blazing light of justice shining down as from the noonday sun."

Several Bible commentary notes include:  "David (writer of this Psalm) calls us to take delight in the Lord and to commit everything we have and do to Him. But how do we do this? To delight in someone means to experience great pleasure and joy in his or her presence. This happens only when we know that person well. To commit ourselves to the Lord means entrusting everything--our lives, families, jobs, possessions--to His control and guidance. To delight in the Lord, we must know Him. Knowledge of His great love to us will give us delight. To commit ourselves to the Lord means to trust Him, believing that He can care for us better than we can care for ourselves.
