A pretty familiar Bible story is of Jesus taking a little boys lunch of bread and fish, then turning it into feeding 5,000 men plus their families. As the story continues, Jesus told his disciples, "Now gather the scraps, so that nothing is wasted." 'And twelve baskets were filled with the leftovers.' (John 6:12 & 13 LAB). The commentary on these two verses, "There is  a lesson in the leftovers. God gives in abundance. He takes whatever we can offer Him in time, ability, or resources and multiplies its effectiveness beyond our wildest expectations. If we take the first step in making ourselves available to Him, He will show us how greatly we can be used to advance the work of His kingdom."
