Today is Wednesday, May 24th, 2006; Karen's Korner #808

A devotional by Shirley Choat (in part):

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer. 2 Samuel 22:2
...and the Rock was Christ. 1 Cor. 10:4

  Throughout the Bible the LORD is frequently referred to as "The Rock" I looked in my concordance to confirm the fact that there are many references; there are more than would fill this page.

  The rock speaks of permanence, of a safe hiding place or a shield. He is the One who shelters us from God's wrath against sin and protects us from the destructive attacks of Satan. In Him our souls can find comfort and a holy hiding place when the storms of life beat down upon us. Grace is the pathway and faith the magnet that draws us into the eternal protection of the fortress of His love.

  Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in Thee;
let the water and the blood,
from Thy riven side which flowed,
be of sin and double cure,
save me from its guilt and power.

~~
Thank You, LORD, for being our ROCK. Amen
